Bangladeshi Citizen Arrested in Lucknow Over Fake Aadhaar and Passport

On Thursday, 21st May, a Bangladeshi citizen was arrested in Lucknow’s BKT area for illegally residing in India using forged identity documents. According to reports, the accused had entered India through Nepal in 2012 and later obtained an Aadhaar card, voter ID, and passport using fake documents. He had also reportedly purchased land in the area.

The accused, identified as Arup Bakshi, is a resident of Narail district in Bangladesh. Police said he was arrested near the Vipassana Meditation Centre flyover on Kisan Path in the BKT locality. During the arrest, officials recovered an Aadhaar card, Rs 300 in cash, and an Oppo mobile phone from his possession.
 
Investigators said Bakshi was running a clinic-like shop in the area, where he allegedly provided medicines and treatment to residents.
 
A case has been registered against him at the BKT police station under charges of fraud, forgery, and violations of the Foreigners Act. During questioning, Bakshi allegedly admitted to living in India illegally and obtaining forged documents, police added.
