As per the reports, Sukumar Ray leads in Cooch Behar Uttar with 17,906 votes (margin 2,423; 3/23), while Rathindra Bose is ahead in Cooch Behar Dakshin with 22,616 votes (margin 4,253; 4/20), strengthening the BJP’s hold in the district.

In the West Bengal Assembly elections, the BJP appears to be on course for victory based on the latest trends. Counting is underway for 293 out of the total 294 constituencies, with trends available for all of them. The BJP is leading in 193 seats, while the Trinamool Congress is ahead in 95, the CPM in one, and others in four.

After 15 years in power, the Trinamool Congress is facing the prospect of defeat in what is the first election held following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The West Bengal Assembly has a total of 294 seats, and a party or alliance needs at least 148 seats to secure a simple majority and form the government.

In the lead-up to the counting process, more than 2.5 lakh personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), along with the state police, were deployed to maintain security.
