On Wednesday, May 7, the Jhalawar Police rescued a 14-year-old girl from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, within hours of her
reported abduction from Rajasthan. The accused, who was allegedly attempting to take the minor to Bangladesh through Kolkata, was later identified as an illegal Bangladeshi national.
According to Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar, the girl’s family filed a complaint at the Jhalrapatan Police Station on May 2, 2026, alleging that their minor daughter had been lured away and abused. Acting swiftly, the police formed multiple teams and launched an extensive search operation covering railway stations, bus stands, suspected hideouts, and the homes of relatives.
During the initial investigation, the accused identified himself as Aditya Badal Biswas and claimed to be living in the Salotiya area of Jhalawar. However, during interrogation, he allegedly confessed that he was originally from Bangladesh. Police investigations revealed that he had entered India in 2024 on a tourist visa but remained in the country illegally after the visa expired. To conceal his identity, he had reportedly obtained local documents illegally and frequently changed his residence.
Police stated that the accused had been in contact with the minor over the phone for some time and had met her on several occasions. Investigators believe he gradually manipulated and trapped the girl before abducting her, with plans to take her to Bangladesh via Kolkata.
Officials credited the successful rescue to rapid police action and technical surveillance methods used during the investigation. In recognition of the operation, the Superintendent of Police announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for the team involved.
The accused is currently being intensively interrogated, while police are also searching for others allegedly involved in preparing forged documents. Further legal proceedings are underway under relevant sections of the law.
