Maharashtra: Muth village in Sindhudurg becomes first to complete census 2027 self-enumeration

In a major boost to Maharashtra’s census drive, Muth village in Sindhudurg district became the first village to complete the self-enumeration process. The achievement was made possible through the coordinated efforts of revenue officials and local residents.

Located in Vengurla taluka, the village has 36 houses and a population of 144. Officials said the milestone was achieved under the guidance of District Collector Tripti Dhodmise.
 
Chief Principal Census Officer Nirupama J. Dange, in a statement, appealed to other villages in the state to take inspiration from Muth village and complete the self-enumeration process within the stipulated time.
 
“All families in Muth village of Sindhudurg district have completed the self-enumeration process. This achievement was possible due to the guidance of the district administration and the active participation of local citizens,” she said in a statement.
 
According to officials, all 43 families in the village enthusiastically participated in the process and submitted accurate information.
 
 
The statement also highlighted the role of Tehsildar Omkar Otari, whose careful planning contributed significantly to the success of the campaign. The combined efforts of the naib tehsildar, circle officer, and village revenue officials ensured the process was completed efficiently and on time.
 
Officials described Muth village’s achievement as both inspirational for the district and exemplary for the State. They said it demonstrated how effective coordination between citizens and the administration can help achieve important public goals successfully.
 
The self-enumeration process under the first phase of Census 2027 began in Maharashtra on May 1 and will continue until May 15. This will be followed by the house listing and housing census phase from May 16 to June 14.
