In a new development that has come to the fore, the students protesting at the Jantar Mantar could be seen hosting a community kitchen for so-called protesting 'students' on June 21. On being asked by one of the media persons, the hosting students stated that they were members of the Association of Students for Alternative Politics (ASAP), which is the students' wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The video report was posted by 'The Janata Live' media on YouTube. It clearly questioned where the female students hosting the community kitchen at the CJP Protest in Jantar Mantar were getting their funds from. "From where did this all come? Who is funding all this?" asked 'The Janata Live' reporter as she saw ASAP members distributing Roohafza to the 'student protesters'.
"We are members of ASAP and aur putting in our own money to host this kitchen. This is all for our GenZ protestors," one of the ASAP members said while talking to the media. He also added that the questions regarding the funding of the protests were only being raised by 'Godi Media'.
Further, he also stated that not only ASAP, but also several 'student' organizations like the Students' Federation of India (SFI), the Indian Subcontinent Student Association (ISSA), and Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA), the official youth and student wing of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), etc were standing behind the protest just because it was a 'social' cause.
It is important to note that several protestors during the Jantar Mantar protest could be seen raising controversial slogans like 'Mera Li*g, Meri Marzi' with mass movement founder Abhijeet Dipke sharing the stage. The videos of the said slogans are making rounds on social media.
Also, during the CJP protest on June 6, which happened at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, the separatist war cry 'Azadi' was raised by the 'student protesters'. The "Azadi" cry has a clear documented genealogy, from Pakistan-backed separatism in 1989-90, amplified by Benazir Bhutto during the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits, institutionalised as a separatist war cry in the Valley, and then transplanted into Indian university campuses, first at JNU in 2016, then more widely during anti-CAA protests in 2019-20.
Notably, it was reported earlier that Dipke had supported separatists in Jammu and Kashmir during the abrogation of Article 370. It was also reported that the leftist mass movement attracted more than 49% of Pakistani supporters.
