A suspected terror operative from Uttar Pradesh, allegedly affiliated with a Pakistan-based terrorist organisation, has been
arrested in a coordinated operation by Karnataka Police and Central Intelligence officials, authorities confirmed on Tuesday, June 23. The accused, identified as Suhail, was apprehended from a village in Davanagere district, where he had reportedly been residing under the cover of working as a painter.
According to police, the arrest
followed crucial leads obtained during the interrogation of two suspected terrorists who had recently been detained in Tumakuru and Davanagere in connection with alleged terror-related plotting. Those revelations guided investigators to Suhail's whereabouts and his suspected role in the network.
The operation was conducted jointly by the Davanagere Police, Central Intelligence officials, and the district crime branch, under the overall supervision of Davanagere Superintendent of Police H T Shekhar. A team headed by Davanagere Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police Basavaraj carried out the raid on the ground. Following his arrest, Suhail was transported to Tumakuru under heavy security for further interrogation by joint teams from Davanagere, Tumakuru, and Central Intelligence units.

Addressing the media on the development, Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge said that initial investigations had established that the accused was a migrant labourer from Uttar Pradesh who had allegedly maintained contact with individuals across the border. "The preliminary investigation revealed that he has been in touch with some people from across the border. We are investigating it further," Kharge stated, adding that authorities had moved in after receiving specific information about his alleged communications with contacts in Pakistan and other locations.
The minister further noted that investigators were now focused on identifying the individuals Suhail had been in contact with and understanding the intent behind those interactions. "Further investigation will reveal who he is in touch with and what he intended to do," Kharge said. Officials confirmed that the probe remains ongoing, with the full extent of Suhail's alleged involvement and the broader network yet to be determined.
