A Hindu woman Nandini Bosmia was found dead at her apartment in Gujarat's Rajkot, with her family accusing her married live-in partner, Aslam Hussain, of murdering her and attempting to pass it off as suicide.

Nandini, who had contested the recent municipal elections from Jetpur on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her flat. Police recovered the body, conducted a post-mortem examination and handed it over to her family. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is underway.

According to her family, Nandini had been living with Aslam Hussain after the two met in Junagadh. They later shifted to a flat in Rajkot. Her relatives alleged that Hussain was already married and frequently visited his wife in Junagadh, leading to repeated disputes between the couple.

Just before her death, Nandini posted a WhatsApp status claiming that Aslam had pawned all of her jewellery. In what is believed to be her final message to her father, she wrote, "Dad, I have lost the battle of life."

After seeing the status, her sister Rupal repeatedly tried calling her but received no response. A family friend, Ravi Joshi, was then sent to the apartment. According to reports, he found the door open and Nandini hanging from the ceiling fan. A 108 ambulance team reached the spot and declared her dead.

Nandini's father has rejected the suicide theory and alleged that Hussain murdered his daughter before hanging her body to make it appear as a case of suicide. He claimed that the couple had frequent arguments and alleged that Hussain had earlier attacked Nandini with a knife while they were living in Junagadh.

The family has further alleged that Hussain regularly assaulted Nandini and subjected her to mental harassment. They also claimed that he did not want children and allegedly forced her to undergo a surgery to remove her uterus while they were in a live-in relationship. These allegations have not been independently verified and are part of the family's complaint.

Apart from her political work with the Aam Aadmi Party, Nandini was employed as a medical representative in Rajkot.Police have not yet confirmed the family's allegations of murder or abuse. Officials said the investigation is ongoing, and all aspects of the case, including the family's complaint, are being examined before any conclusions are drawn.
