slammed Pakistan for referring to Baloch rebel groups inside its own borders as 'Fitna al-Hindustan', meaning 'Indian proxies'. Hitting out at the neighbouring country at the UN, India termed its decision as nothing but "officially sponsored misinformation and disinformation dressed in religious terminology.”
Parvathaneni Harish, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN,
delivered a strong statement against Pakistan at the United Nations during a UN Security Council meeting on the ‘Situation in Afghanistan’. Hitting out strongly, Harish said that Pakistan coming up with official notifications, directing its government agencies to start referring to groups inside its own borders as 'Fitna al Hindustan', "is nothing but officially sponsored misinformation and disinformation dressed in religious terminology".
Last year, the government of Pakistan officially designated all Baloch rebel groups 'Fitna al Hindustan', alleging, without giving any proof, that the outfits indulged in 'terrorism' at India's behest, according to Pakistani media reports.
Harish called it an outcome of an organised factory of hate coming from the deep state of Pakistan, which aims to keep their citizens in a state of permanent hostility with India in order to perpetuate their stay in power and control of national resources and distract them from core political and economic problems.
He added that the de facto coup by the military through the 27th Constitutional Amendment is only its most recent manifestation. The Indian envoy was referring to Pakistan's parliament passing a constitutional amendment last year, which provided for the creation of the post of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF). Field Marshal Asim Munir was appointed as Pakistan's first CDF after that.
In May 2025, the government of Pakistan issued an official statement blaming India for Baloch rebel group's alleged attacks on Pakistan. “Keeping in view the involvement of some groups in terrorist activities in Balochistan, at the behest of India (Hindustan), which are detrimental to Islamic faith and sovereignty of Pakistan, and customary traditions, it has been decided that, henceforth, all terrorist groups and organizations operating in Balochistan will be referred to as Fitna-al-Hindustan,” the official Pakistan letter read.
“The change aims to reflect the true nature and ideology of these terrorist organizations and groups and nefarious designs of India (Hindustan) against the people of Pakistan,” the notification claimed.
Earlier, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, following the school bus explosion in the Khuzdar district, declared that it was the result of “Indian state-sponsored terrorism,” as part of a larger conspiracy he dubbed “Fitna-al-Hindustan."
