During the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar, an elderly man in a wheelchair publicly defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi after protesters raised anti-government slogans in his presence.
The incident, captured in a video that has since circulated widely on social media, occurred as CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke stepped down from the stage to personally receive the senior citizen and escort him towards the gathering.
As the elderly man reached the protest site, several demonstrators surrounding his wheelchair began raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including chants of "Modi is a thief."
However, instead of joining the slogans, the senior citizen stopped the protesters and strongly objected to their remarks.
"Stay absolutely quiet. PM Modi is not a thief," he told the gathering. "Narendra Modi has been serving the country for longer than your age. He worked as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for 12 years, and after that, he has been continuously serving as the Prime Minister. PM Modi is honest."
The elderly man further said that the Prime Minister's image was being unfairly damaged because of certain individuals within the system.
"It is only because of some people sitting within the system that Narendra Modi's name is being tarnished. You all are fools for saying such things," he said.
The exchange left many protesters visibly surprised. Abhijeet Dipke, who had accompanied the elderly man to the stage, was seen standing silently during the interaction as the senior citizen continued defending the Prime Minister.
The incident has since gained traction on social media, with users sharing the video and reacting to the unexpected turn of events. While supporters of the BJP hailed the elderly man's remarks, opposition supporters questioned the context of the exchange.
The CJP protest was organised as part of demonstrations over the alleged NEET paper leak and other issues, during which opposition groups raised slogans against the Union government. Neither Abhijeet Dipke nor the CJP issued an immediate statement responding to the viral video at the time of writing.
