After CJP chaos, AAP's Arvind Kejriwal announces 'National town hall against E20' in Delhi on August 1; all you need to know

After the CJP violence in Delhi, now the AAP has begun its campaign against the E20 fuel. On Monday, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested in a liquor scam case, announced that his party will hold a 'National Town Hall Against E20' in the national capital on August 1, aimed at rallying public opposition to ethanol-blended petrol.
Drawing a comparison to a recent development, Kejriwal remarked that the country's youth had previously compelled the government to act, pointing to Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation as an example, and said similar collective pressure would now be needed on the E20 issue.
Addressing calls for the resignation of Punjab's education minister following paper leak allegations, Kejriwal defended his party's track record, stating that Delhi has seen no paper leaks during AAP's decade in power, and that Punjab too has remained leak-free for five years. He referenced one incident involving two students who attempted to cheat using smart pens at two exam centres, noting they were caught immediately.
He further pointed to improvements in Punjab's education rankings, stating that the state had risen from 27th position before 2022 to first place currently, suggesting this progress was the real source of his opponents' criticism. Kejriwal also mentioned that he had written to PM Modi earlier this month requesting a meeting to discuss E20-related concerns and calling for a reduction in the price of ethanol-blended petrol.

Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal said the event, scheduled to take place at the Constitution Club of India, will bring together experts, vehicle owners, and members of the public to address grievances surrounding E20 fuel. Like CJP, he invited people to attend in large numbers to collectively push the central government to roll back the E20 initiative, extending the invitation to experts as well as those who have faced vehicle-related issues due to the fuel.
