On July 6, a video went viral on social media in which the Kerala Police could be seen raiding a house with 'Masha Allah' written on it. As per the viral post, the police is believed to have found an underground tunnel in the house and seized a large quantity of suspected narcotics from the property.

Images of the house, which had the words "Masha Allah" inscribed above its entrance, also went viral on social media. While some online posts compared the underground passage to "Hamas-style tunnels", authorities have not publicly linked the tunnel to any terror organisation or extremist activity.

The investigation is currently focused on the alleged narcotics operation, and police are continuing to examine the purpose of the underground structure and any possible criminal links. Meanwhile, several users on social media expressed outrage over the incident.

"Kerala’s Muslim Inspire by Hamas Saar! Police raided a house in Kerala with "Masha Allah" written above the front door. Inside, they found a Hamas-style tunnel and a huge quantity of drugs," one of the users said.

"SHOCKER FROM GOD’s OWN COUNTRY KERALA! Kerala Police raided a house in Kerala with MASHA ALLAH written on the front door. But they were shocked when they found a Hamas-style tunnel inside the house and a huge quantity of drugs," another user said.

The comments below the posts also attracted massive attention. "They are Hamas. Each & every one of these in Kerala, Kashmir, and an average of 20% in other states are Hamas. They are the same ideologically. Just question them once about jews, about Khamenei, which we also saw the donation from Kashmir & ladies & kids saying why will we support," one commented.

"Stop calling God's Own Country. It is more Mulla-owned country," another said. Notably, the video was first posted by Nagaland News and could not be independently verified by Newsbharati.

What is a Hamas-style tunnel?

It is important to note that during the Israel-Palestine war, the Hamas leader, Mohammed Sinwar, who was the mastermind behind the 7th October attack, had built a tunnel in hiding to keep his plans and associates safe. In May 2025, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a targeted operation aiming to trap senior Hamas terrorists inside a tunnel running beneath the hospital. The operation began on May 13 with a series of precision airstrikes intended to trap senior Hamas operatives inside the tunnel, and the explosions released toxic gases that killed those inside.

In June 2025, the Israeli army announced it had retrieved the body of Hamas's military chief, Mohammed Sinwar, from an underground tunnel beneath the hospital, following that operation. Along with Sinwar, Rafah Brigade commander Mohammad Shabana and other militants were also found dead in the same tunnel.

Mohammed Sinwar was the younger brother of Yahya Sinwar, the movement's former leader and the mastermind behind the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. After Yahya Sinwar was killed, Mohammed took over as Hamas's military chief. Israeli officials say the tunnel served as a key military command center from which the October 7 attack was directed.

The tunnel runs roughly seven meters deep and stretches for hundreds of meters beneath the hospital, with the main chamber where the men were found located about 20 meters from the emergency room entrance. Deeper in, investigators found additional rooms, including a kitchen. A large trench dug in front of the hospital's emergency room entrance led down to the tunnel entrance, which had been used as a hideout by Hamas fighters, according to the army. Israeli forces recovered weapons stockpiles, ammunition, cash, and documents at the site for intelligence review.

This was one of several such tunnels found under hospitals and civilian buildings during the war. The IDF had also uncovered a similar underground network beneath Gaza City's Palestine Square, which included living quarters and personal shafts (one with an elevator) reportedly used by top Hamas terrorists, including Mohammed Deif and Yahya Sinwar.
