Jharkhand protest: Students walk towards Vidhan Sabha amid heavy security 'arrangements', dangerous barricades

On Monday, the protesting aspirants in Jharkhand left from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium for the old Jharkhand Legislative Assembly building, ahead of their call for a Vidhan Sabha march to the new Assembly.

This is amid a tight security arrangement in Ranchi, as thousands of aspirants who have applied for the recruitment examination under JPSC and JSSC walk towards the 'Vidhan Sabha Gherao' protest. As per the spokesperson of Ranchi Police, they have made 'ample preparations', which include pellet guns, dangerous barricades to face the situation peacefully, and there will be no legal action against peaceful protesters.
 
 

According to SP Ranchi City Paras Rana, 'precautionary' force deployment at crucial places has been made since a huge number of students are taking part in the rally towards the state Assembly. He further informed that the police force has made sure that the agitation does not turn violent in any way.
 
Student protester Devendra Nath Mahato, who is on hunger strike, commented on the matter and said, "Today is a day of revolution and change for us. For those who have been on hunger strike for the past few days, today is a decisive day in this struggle." 
 
 
 
Several videos of dangerous barricades set up by the state police are also making rounds on social media, with netizens claiming that no one is talking about these as Jharkhand is not a BJP-ruled state. The social media posts indicate that had Jharkhand been a BJP-ruled state and had the state police made these arrangements, the leftist 'liberals' would have highlighted them to create chaos.
 

"The Jharkhand Police has set up these dangerous barricades for the students of Jharkhand. No one is talking about this now because it is not a BJP-ruled state. When the police resorted to a lathi-charge at Jantar Mantar, the entire Leftist gang raised a hue and cry," said one of the users sharing the video.


"Just look at this. This "arrangement" has been made to stop students protesting against the govt. Shame on you, Modi ji.... Oh wait... This is Ranchi... an INDI alliance-ruled state," another user said, sharing another similar video.
 
 
 
 

Now entering its second week, the protest movement in Ranchi is calling for the cancellation of several JPSC and JSSC recruitment exams over allegations of irregularities and paper leaks, along with a proper investigation into the matter. In response, the Hemant Soren-led government has scrapped three exams, accepted resignations from JPSC officials, promised to bring in the Enforcement Directorate, and set up a feedback portal for grievances.
 

However, protesting students have stated that these steps aren't enough, since they had demanded 13 exams be cancelled altogether, and are insisting on a CBI probe instead.
