NEW DELHI, August 14 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to those affected by the Partition of India on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, recalling the
immense suffering, displacement and loss of lives caused by the historic event.
In a series of posts on X, Modi said Partition shattered countless lives, separated families and caused the loss of loved ones. He, however, highlighted the resilience of those who rebuilt their lives from scratch despite the hardships they faced.
The Prime Minister said the journeys of Partition survivors and their families demonstrated the power of human resilience and their contributions played an important role in the nation's progress.
“On the occasion of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, I pay tribute to all those who emerged from that harrowing era and made invaluable contributions to the nation's progress,” Modi said.
He urged citizens to strengthen the spirit of harmony, brotherhood and national unity, while calling for collective efforts towards building a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Modi also shared a Sanskrit Subhashit highlighting the importance of hard work, enterprise and persistent effort. He said success in fields ranging from arts and sciences to technical skills, craftsmanship and innovation comes through dedicated human effort.

Emphasising that people should not depend solely on fate, the Prime Minister called for courage, diligence and continuous effort to achieve one's goals.
He said the experiences of those who overcame the hardships of Partition serve as a reminder that determination and human endeavour can help transform adversity into progress.
