On August 15, a Hindu couple identified as Manisha Kesarkar and Mohan Kesarkar were brutally attacked by one individual identified as Farid Abdul Sheikh over a minor garbage dispute in Sangli district of Maharashtra. The accused, believed to be staying in the couple's neighborhood, stabbed the woman with a meat-cutting knife in her stomach and pelvis, resulting in her death on the spot. The accused also hit the man with a hammer on the head, leaving him battling for life in the hospital.
Sangli Police's Anadrao Ghadge confirmed to Newsbharati that the accused is mentally unstable and that he has now been arrested. "He killed the woman over a minor issue. He already hated that family, it seems. We are investigating the matter," he said.

The couple is survived by a 17-year-old minor daughter and a son. The daughter narrated the exact incident and demanded justice for her parents. "Since the day we have come here to stay, Sheikh had been repeatedly harassing our family by throwing stones at our house, shining a torch at the house, dumping garbage at our doorstep, and spitting while looking at my mother. He wanted us to leave this house and this area, which he claimed was his area," the girl said.
"On the morning of the 16th, Sheikh threw garbage in front of our door, and when my father confronted him, he slapped him. Following this, we all rushed to the spot, but the brawl had begun. We tried to defend ourselves. But later her stabbed my mother in the stomach and banged my father's head using a hammer," the 17-year-old daughter said.
Newsbharati obtained exclusive, horrific images regarding the incident. The skull of the man has been hit so hard that a sharp cut now divides the man's head. The doctors immediately operated on the victim, but his condition seems unstable. The woman, on the other hand, who died on the spot, was stabbed in the stomach and pelvis area around 4-5 times.
The relatives of the couple have filed an official complaint against Sheikh, who has now been arrested by the police. BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar took cognizance of the event and condemned the incident. He stated that it was very unfortunate that Hindus are not safe on their own land. He also added that the accused, Sheikh, claimed that it was his area and that he wanted the couple to leave the area forever.
The accused, Sheikh, has been arrested by the police. FIR has been filed. Further details and investigations in the case are underway.
