On Saturday, August 22, 2 individuals identified as Ramiz Abdul Rashid Ansari (23) and Mohammad Alkaish Parvez Alam Momin (25) were
arrested by the Maharashtra Police for indulging in robbery and the murder of a truck driver.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-2, Bhiwandi) Pawan Bansode, the murder took place on August 16 on the Bhiwandi-Thane bypass road. The official added that a three-day operation was carried out to track down the accused, during which footage from 150 CCTV cameras was scanned.

The victim has been identified as Pawan Kumar Kaju Mahato, from Bihar. Police said that the victim had parked his truck on the bypass road in the early hours of August 16 when the two accused allegedly attempted to rob him. When he resisted, they allegedly slit his throat with a knife.
After Pawan collapsed unconscious, the two accused fled on a motorcycle with his money. Police said that since no immediate leads were found at the scene, five teams were formed to investigate.
"The route taken by the accused to flee the spot was mapped out with the help of eyewitnesses, and footage from 150 cameras in the area was examined to trace the suspects," the police said, further adding that both the accused confessed to the crime during questioning.
As per the investigation, Ansari has a criminal record, while Momin has 18 cases of theft registered against him.
