On August 24, the Mazgaon region of Mumbai experienced alleged communal tensions after eggs were thrown at a Ganpati idol during a procession. The incident reportedly occurred in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, following which police increased security in the area. According to preliminary information, the eggs were thrown from a residential building named Continental Heights in the area where mostly Muslims live.

At around 2:30 pm, Orambale, along with the president and vice-president of the said Ganesh Mandal and around 150–200 Hindu male and female volunteers, had gone to Ganesh Kunj, near Bharatmata Cinema, Lalbaug, Mumbai, to bring the Ganesh idol for the 2026 Ganesh festival.
“At around 3:30 PM, we took our Ganesh idol in a trolley from Ganesh Kunj and proceeded via Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Marg, then took the S. Patanwala Road and turned right towards Rambhau Bhogale Marg. We then proceeded in front of Continental Heights, C-Wing, where the idol was being taken through the area where the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Mazgaon, had installed its pandal.
