A health officer at a government health centre in Indore has been booked for raping a 28-year-old woman colleague and threatening her with a knife, police said. The accused, identified as Sohel Sheikh, works as a health officer at the Arogyam Community Health Centre in the Khudel area, where the woman is also posted.

The incident took place on August 29, according to the woman's complaint. Sheikh has been absconding since the case was registered, and police are searching for him.
Woman says she was pressured for several days
The woman told police that Sheikh had been putting pressure on her for several days and threatening her and her family. She said she remained silent because she was afraid of the consequences.
On the morning of August 29, she reached the health centre for work. Sheikh asked her to accompany him to the upper floor for a visit. She initially refused.
According to her complaint, Sheikh then told her that they had been working together for several years and questioned why she did not trust him. He also threatened to complain to senior officials about her. She became frightened and went upstairs with him.
Door locked after reaching upper floor
The woman told police that once they reached the upper floor, Sheikh locked the room from inside. He then covered her mouth and pushed her to the floor.
She said Sheikh took out a knife and held it against her neck before sexually assaulting her. The woman told police that she was frightened by the threat and could not resist.
She further said Sheikh warned her that if she told anyone about the incident, he would first kill her and then her family.
She told family after the incident
After the incident, Sheikh left the health centre. The woman did not tell other staff members at the centre but later informed her family about what had happened.
Her family then accompanied her to the Khudel police station, where she filed a complaint. Police registered an FIR against Sheikh on Saturday (August 29) night under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police examine evidence at health centre
Police have started investigating the case and visited the health centre to examine the scene and collect evidence.
A report by Amar Ujala said the centre does not have CCTV cameras, leaving investigators without digital footage from the premises. Police are examining the woman's statement and other evidence connected with the case.
Police have also begun efforts to trace Sohel Sheikh. Further investigation is underway.
