Jharkhand : Babulal Marandi demands Court-monitored CBI probe into JPSC, JSSC exam Irregularities

Leader of Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, Babulal Marandi, on Thursday demanded a court-monitored CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations, expressing a lack of faith in the state government's handling of the matter.
Earlier on August 5, Babulal Marandi interacted with student leader Devendra Nath Mahato and other protesters staging an indefinite hunger strike against alleged paper leaks in the JSSC CGL examination and irregularities in JPSC exams. The protesting aspirants are demanding a CBI probe into the recruitment processes and widespread examination reforms in the state.
Speaking in Ranchi, Marandi alleged that the government's actions so far were merely an "eye wash" and questioned the credibility of investigations conducted by the state machinery.

"Reform is for the government. If you put a corrupt officer in the investigation, if you put corrupt officers... you will make them secretary, member... then this is what will happen," Marandi said.
Referring to developments in the case, he said the commission's president had resigned while others had been arrested, but maintained that these steps were insufficient to restore public confidence.
"The president has resigned, the rest have been arrested. All these things are just eye wash. How can we trust the government? The people have seen what has happened with their investigations earlier," he said.
Calling for an independent probe, Marandi urged that the investigation be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) under judicial supervision.
"That is why I have said that there should be a court-monitored probe. The report of the investigation should come within a time limit," he added.
The demand comes amid continuing political and public scrutiny over the alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the JPSC and JSSC, with opposition parties pressing for an independent investigation into the matter.
