Piyush Mishra backs Jharkhand students’ protest, vows medical, financial aid; Says he will join the protest

 

In a video message shared on social media, Mishra expressed disappointment over the lack of support from the Mumbai film fraternity for what he described as a peaceful students' movement. He said he felt “embarrassed” that no one from Mumbai had stood with the protesters and declared that he would soon travel to Ranchi to join them.

 

 

 

Speaking directly to the students, Mishra said he would not only spend time interacting with them but also help arrange necessities such as medical assistance, financial aid, food and mattresses. He added that he had appealed to his colleagues to contribute according to their capacity.

 

“I am coming to sit among you. We will talk; I will sing a few songs. Whatever help you need medical, financial, food or mattresses. We will try our best to arrange. I have also asked my friends and colleagues to contribute as much as they can,” Mishra said.

 

 

The actor also urged the students to continue their agitation in a disciplined and peaceful manner. Stressing that the movement should remain free from abusive language, misconduct and political interference, Mishra praised the protesters for maintaining restraint.

 

He described the students as “the future of the country” and assured them that many people in Mumbai stood in solidarity with their cause.

 

 

 

The protest has been underway in Ranchi since July 29, with hundreds of aspirants alleging large-scale irregularities, paper leaks and recruitment malpractice in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

 

The demonstrators are demanding a CBI investigation into the examination paper leaks and an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into the financial aspects of the recruitment scam. Protesters have also sought cancellation of the controversial examinations and action against those responsible.

 

The movement has remained largely peaceful, with students staging hunger strikes and sit-ins while urging the state government to order an independent investigation.

 

 

The students' agitation has also drawn support from opposition leaders. Earlier, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi demanded a CBI probe into the irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations, claiming that recruitment institutions had lost credibility and calling for an impartial investigation into the matter.

 

With support now coming from both political leaders and members of the entertainment industry, the pressure on the Jharkhand government to address the students' demands continues to intensify.
