MP Love Jihad: Shahrukh posed as Mahendra Chandrawat to trap IT professional Hindu woman; defrauded her of Rs 8 Lakh

An Islamist has been detained by the Madhya Pradesh Police after a Rajasthan-based IT professional accused him of concealing his religious identity, sexually assaulting her on the false promise of marriage, blackmailing her and cheating her of nearly Rs 8 lakh.
The accused has been identified by police as Shahrukh Beg, a resident of Jayshree Nagar in Dewas. He introduced himself to the woman as Mahendra Chandrawat when they first met while working in Pune.
According to the complaint, the two became acquainted after which the duo developed a relationship. However, the woman had no idea about his identity.
The complainant, who is originally from Rajasthan and works for an IT company in Pune, told that the accused later persuaded her to travel to Dewas on the pretext of marriage. She has also claimed that he sexually assaulted her and subsequently revealed his real identity. When confronted, the accused told her that he did not believe in differences between Hindus and Muslims, according to the complaint.
The woman further said that the accused induced her to take loans and obtain bank cards in her name, through which he siphoned off approximately Rs 7-8 lakh. She also accused him of blackmailing and financially exploiting her during the course of their relationship.
According to the complaint, on May 17, the woman, accompanied by her brother, travelled to Dewas to recover the money. She said, that the accused threatened them by displaying a firearm and a sword when they demanded repayment.
Civil Lines police have taken Shahrukh Beg into custody and initiated an investigation. Station House Officer Amit Solanki confirmed that the accused is being questioned and that the allegations are under investigation.
The case has drawn attention because it involves allegations of concealment of identity, sexual assault on the pretext of marriage, criminal intimidation and financial fraud. Cases like these are called as cases of "Love Jihad" which are frequently being reported from across Bharat.
