According to police, the accused allegedly took Sofia to an isolated area near Gheljipura in Sarkhej and attacked her with a hammer before attempting to make her death appear like a road accident.

Sofia, who worked as a receptionist at a hospital in Juhapura, was initially believed to have died in a hit-and-run incident. Police were told that she was riding pillion with Habil on August 12 when an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit their motorcycle near Samruddh Dairy.

She suffered serious injuries to her head and legs and was taken to Sola Civil Hospital, where she was declared dead on August 13.

However, the investigation later raised questions about the accident story. Police found that Sofia had allegedly been taken to an isolated location near Gheljipura before the incident.

Police said Habil had allegedly concealed an iron hammer in his trousers. After reaching the isolated location, he allegedly struck Sofia on the head three times, while his father allegedly assisted him.

The duo then allegedly moved the motorcycle to a public road and created the impression that an unknown vehicle had hit them. They also reportedly lodged a complaint about the alleged hit-and-run.

Police said the earlier viral video had led to repeated objections from Sofia’s father and brother over her continued conversations with other men. Investigators suspect the accused developed a grudge against her and allegedly planned the killing, citing family reputation.

A murder case has been registered against the father-son duo, and further investigation is underway.
