The Supreme Court said the initiative has been launched for the convenience of ordinary citizens, litigants and particularly persons with disabilities. It will help people understand significant judgments, their implications and subsequent proceedings in a language familiar to them.

The service is aimed at making access to justice more inclusive by connecting judicial information with Indian languages. The use of simple language and audio-visual formats is also expected to help people who may find lengthy legal documents difficult to read or understand.

The Jan Soochna Seva will initially be available in Hindi. The Supreme Court said work will soon begin to extend the service to other Indian languages in a phased manner.

The initiative is expected to help citizens from different linguistic regions access concise and easy-to-understand information about important Supreme Court judgments in their own languages.

Through the service, the Supreme Court aims to make judicial information more accessible and ensure that language does not become a barrier to understanding important legal decisions.
