Government officials emphasized that the Pakistani corvette’s dangerous conduct directly violated Article 10 of the April 1991 India-Pakistan Agreement on Advance Notice on Military Exercises, Manoeuvres, and Troops Movements. This bilateral treaty explicitly mandates a safe buffer zone to prevent accidental engagements, a protocol completely discarded by the Pakistani crew.
