New Delhi , Sep 19: In a decisive mandate for nationalist youth leadership, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) achieved a dominant victory in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, capturing three out of the four central executive posts. The election outcome reflects a decisive rejection of Congress’s student wing, the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), across key university campuses.
The mandate reflects the unwavering faith of Delhi University's youth in constructive campus nationalism, voter security, and academic development over divisive political rhetoric. Out of more than 1.51 lakh eligible voters, 40.46% exercised their franchise across 52 polling centres in a peaceful and democratic display.
Demonstrating strict adherence to institutional decorum and law, university authorities and police forces, in compliance with directives from the Delhi High Court, ensured that no unauthorized victory processions were organized post-declaration, maintaining peaceful order across the campus.
The DUSU results reaffirm the nation’s premier university campus as a stronghold of nationalist ideology, setting the political tone for youth engagement across the country.
In a tense, high-stakes battle spanning 20 rounds of vote counting, nationalist candidate Yash Dabas emerged victorious to secure the coveted post of DUSU President. Polling a formidable 24,576 votes, Dabas successfully defeated his primary opponent, NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena (22,523 votes), keeping the presidential seat firmly within the nationalist vanguard.

Continuing the ABVP’s strong performance across the central panel, Riya Chhawdi bagged the post of Secretary with 21,650 votes, while Lakshya Raj Singh clinched the Joint Secretary post after securing 16,615 votes. The position of Vice-President was captured by independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen, a former NSUI member who broke ranks with his former organisation, polling 30,615 votes. ABVP’s Ishu Maurya secured second place with 16,910 votes, while the official NSUI candidate Vir Chatrath trailed far behind with a mere 4,313 votes, reflecting the opposition's waning influence on campus.
