Manu Bhaker, Tajinderpal Singh Toor named India’s flag-bearers for Asian Games Opening Ceremony

New Delhi, September 19 : Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and defending Asian Games shot put champion Tajinderpal Singh Toor have been named as India’s flag-bearers for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
India’s Chef-de-Mission Sahdev Yadav confirmed on Friday that Bhaker will be one of the flag-bearers. The Athletics Federation of India later confirmed Toor as the second flag-bearer.
Bhaker made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by becoming the first athlete from independent India to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games. Her selection as a flag-bearer comes after her successful Olympic campaign and continued presence in Indian shooting.

Toor, meanwhile, will lead the Indian contingent alongside Bhaker. The shot putter has won gold medals at the last two editions of the Asian Games and will be looking to defend his title at the upcoming continental sporting event.
The 2026 Asian Games will be held in Nagoya, Japan, bringing together athletes from across Asia for competition in multiple sporting disciplines.
