56-Year-Old Man Arrested In Delhi POCSO Case

New Delhi, September 21: A 56-year-old mannamed Maqsood was arrested on Friday in connection with a case involving the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl in Delhi, police said.

The victim is a Class 6 student at a private school. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act provides a legal framework for protecting children from sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography. It also lays down procedures for reporting and investigating such offences.
Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
According to reports Class 6 student was allegedly tied up and SEXUALLY ASSAULTED inside a Sadar Bazar shop where she had gone to buy stationery.

Delhi Police have ARRESTED the 56-year-old accused, Maksud, under rape, POCSO, and wrongful confinement.
The case came to light on the morning of September 13, when police found the minor’s body in an open field near Jaipal Rana’s field on Kushak Road.
Gupta described the incident as “painful and worrying” and said the Delhi Commission for Women was concerned about preventing such incidents.
Gupta, who had met the victim’s family, said they were going through severe mental distress and were in a vulnerable condition. She assured the family that the Commission would extend all possible support, including legal aid, counselling and judicial assistance.
Delhi Police have arrested four persons, including three juveniles, in connection with the case. The arrests were made after police analysed footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras and traced a suspected tempo allegedly linked to the crime.
