Smriti Mandhana becomes first woman cricketer to reach 11,000 International runs

New Delhi ,Sept 22 : Indian women team opener Smriti Mandhana created history on Monday( Sept 21) by becoming the first cricketer in the world to score 11,000 runs in women’s international cricket.
Mandhana achieved the milestone during the Asian Games final against Sri Lanka at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan. She surpassed the previous record held by former India captain Mithali Raj, who finished her international career with 10,868 runs.
Mandhana entered the final needing a relatively small number of runs to cross the landmark. She reached the milestone in an aggressive fashion, giving India a strong start at the top of the order.
The left-handed opener smashed three sixes and three fours in the first four overs, putting pressure on the Sri Lankan bowling attack. Her attacking approach helped India make a quick start in the summit clash.
