New Delhi, Sep 24: In an important step toward regional connectivity and industrial growth, Indian Railways has completed the Taroki-Rowghat section, marking the final milestone of the 95 km Dallirajhara-Rowghat New Rail Line Project in south Chhattisgarh.

The newly completed 17.5 km single-line electrified broad-gauge section underwent a critical Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) inspection and speed trial on Tuesday (Sep 22). A thorough assessment tested the operational capacity, track safety, bridges, culverts, signalling, and electrification standards required for official commissioning. Railway connectivity beyond Taroki, operational during the later phase of the project, will have further impact, enhancing the freight corridor in the eastern region.
 
 
 

 The Dallirajhara-Rowghat New Rail Line Project holds strategic value for India’s steel manufacturing sector. It will directly provide bulk transportation of high-grade iron ore to the Bhilai Steel Plant, providing a major stimulus to the national steel industry. Beyond industrial raw materials, the line will help rural economies grow by accelerating the transport of local agricultural produce and commercial goods to larger markets.

The project bridges the infrastructure gap in South Chhattisgarh with aspiring opportunities for the region, as the new rail network links remote tribal belts with major urban centers like the state capital.
