Kerala teacher Mohd Basheer arrested for sexually abusing minor student for consecutive two years
Teacher Muhammad Basheer has been arrested in Kannur after a minor student accused him of repeated sexual abuse. The abuse began when the student was 11 and continued for around two years.

A teacher has been arrested in Kerala's Kannur district after a minor student accused him of sexually abusing the child repeatedly over a period of two years.
The accused has been identified as Muhammad Basheer, a native of Muthuvalloor in Malappuram. He was working as a teacher when the incidents took place.

According to the complaint filed by the student on September 2, the abuse started when the child was 11 years old and continued for about two years. The student also alleged that Basheer threatened the child and warned against telling anyone about the incidents.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Basheer under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections.
Police later arrested Basheer as part of the investigation. The arrest was carried out by a team including SI Rakesh, Senior Civil Police Officers Rajil and Sabeesh, along with the Tirur police team.
After his arrest, Basheer was produced before the Thalassery POCSO Court. The court remanded him to Kannur Central Jail for 14 days.
Similar case reported in Thrissur
The case comes against the backdrop of another similar case in Kerala. A 52-year-old tuition teacher identified as Noushad was arrested in Thrissur for allegedly sexually abusing three minor girls who attended his tuition centre.
According to police, the alleged abuse took place at Noushad's residence, where he conducted tuition classes. Police registered a case against him under the POCSO Act.
The Basheer case is also being investigated by the Chokli Police based on the minor student's complaint. The allegations against the accused are under investigation, and he will have the opportunity to defend himself in court.
