Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Sept. 7: A case alleging religious conversion linked to the promise of permanent employment has been registered against five persons in Vaijapur taluka of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, bringing together allegations of religious coercion, exploitation of teachers and financial demands.
The complaint further alleges that the couple continued working for nearly two years without being given permanent status. They were subsequently allegedly asked to pay ₹5 lakh for confirmation of their employment. According to police-based reports, the complainant arranged the money by borrowing at interest, but the promised permanent appointment allegedly did not materialise.
The allegations do not end there. The complainant has claimed that the couple were subsequently told that their children too would have to undergo conversion. The continuing pressure and uncertainty allegedly caused severe distress to the family. The complainant reportedly left home for several days before relatives, with police assistance, traced him and brought him back.
Police have registered a case against five persons, including a religious functionary, and have begun investigating the allegations. Authorities are also examining whether there were other instances of alleged conversion connected with the organisation or individuals involved.

According to the complaint filed at Virgaon police station, a teacher couple working at Shantisadan Primary School since 2024 were allegedly told that their jobs could be made permanent only if they converted to Christianity. The couple allegedly underwent conversion at Mali Ghogargaon after being assured that they would subsequently receive permanent appointments.
