Bhubaneshwar, December 26: India’s third largest private sector bank Axis Bank, today organized the 2nd edition of its cyclothon in Bhubaneswar, ‘Cyclothon 2015’, with the objective of building awareness among the public on preventing and reporting cybercrimes.
The event organized by Axis Bank, in association with the Bhubaneswar Cyclist & Adventure Club (BCAC), witnessed participation from nearly 400 enthusiastic cyclists, across all ages.
The event was flagged off by the guests of honour P K Jena, Regional Director, RBI and Sunil Gurbaxani, Regional Branch Banking Head East, Axis Bank at the Nehru Club ground.
Commenting on the event, Sunil Gurbaxani, Regional Branch Banking Head East, Axis Bank, said “With the rising acceptance of digital technology, it is important to educate the public on preventive measures to be adopted against potential cyber threats. We are privileged to share our experience and knowledge in the prevention of financial cybercrimes. An innovative event like the Cyclothon will help us to bring together people from different walks of life on a common platform to spread awareness about cyber security.”
The cyclist participants supported the campaign by spreading awareness through messages on placards and banners about preventive measures on cybercrime and its effective reporting to the appropriate authorities.
The participants also promoted cycling as a healthy, fun and low-impact form of exercise for all ages. Earlier this year, Bhubaneswar police had undertaken an initiative to train officers from various parts of the state on seizure and collection of digital evidence, investigation in social networking sites, ATM and credit card fraud and setting up a dedicated Cyber Police station.
