PM Modi flags off ‘Run for Rio’; encourages all the athletes of Indian contingent for Olympics 2016

New Delhi, July 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the “Run for Rio” event in New Delhi to encourage all the athletes this time taking part into Rio Olympics. Flags off event took place in Major Dhyanchand stadium on Sunday. Thousands of people have joined the run to give their support and best wishes to all the athletes taking part in Rio Olympics.
119 athletes are representing India this time in Rio Olympics. This is for the first time ever that such large number of athletes from India qualified for Rio Olympics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged all the athletes and also gave his best wishes too.

Embeded ObjectPrime Minister Modi on this account said, “let every district affirm that at least one athlete from our district will represent India in 2020 Olympic events.” He also said, “every player has worked hard to get here. They will surely give their best.”

Prime Minister Modi further said "Our athletes will win hearts of the world and will show the world what India is about.” He further said to all the athletes representing India in Rio that, “you will face world’s best athletes into this competition but 1.25 millions of Indians will encourage you and they will pray for you.”

PM said, "Sports is a necessity of life. Let everyone play and shine.” He further said that Central Government is fully committed to provide all possible supports to various sports and sportsmen. Since two years, various steps are taken in order to promote all the sports.
