Bailable arrest warrant issued against Nawaz Sharif; Avenfield hearing adjourned until 3rd November

Lahore, October 26: The Court of Pakistan has issued a bailable arrest warrant against the expelled Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif on Thursday in two cases of corruption namely the Flagship Investment reference and the Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Establishment references. For Avenfield, the court adjourned the hearing until 3rd November. 

 

According to the local media, in connection with a third reference Avenfield flats, NAB has filed the reference against Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz and Captain Mohammad Safdar by on October 19. While in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Establishment references, Sharif was accused separately.

On 28th July, the five-member bench of the Supreme Court had asked NAB to file the references within six weeks against Nawaz and his children and asked the trial court to decide the references in six months. NAB has named Former Pakistani Prime Minister’s sons Hassan and Hussain, while Maryam and her husband Safdar have been named only in the Avenfield reference. After the Pakistan Supreme Court disqualified Sharif from office over corruption charges in July he had resigned.
