Kolkata, November 1: This year several states got affected by floods caused due to extremely heavy rain, including West Bengal. Some districts from north Bengal mostly faced the loss. As usual, the farmers were the most badly affected victim financially during the floods. Hence state government released a fund of Rs 308.10 crore for the flood victim farmers.
Agriculture department will distribute checks for the farmers. "This is the first phase when farmers affected by the flood in three months of this monsoon will be given cheques by our department. The distribution of the cheques will start from November 15 and the second phase of cheque distribution will start within seven days after that," State Agriculture Minister Ashish Banerjee said.
Some part of the affected areas is still drowned in water. After the water will get down in those areas, more fund added to this 308.10 crore will be released further.
