Kolkata, December 1: The law and order, security of common citizens are declining day by day in West Bengal. West Bengal comes as a topper in such a list of what the state can’t really celebrate but feels afraid only. The latest report of National Crime Record Bureau shows the highest number of cases of human trafficking in 2016 has been recorded in West Bengal.
For crimes of human trafficking, Rajasthan is also not in a good place sharing 17.9% of total human trafficking cases in the country. However, a total of 15,379 persons were trafficked during the year. Among the 15,379 trafficked people, 58.7% were children.
Uttar Pradesh reported 14.5% (49,262) of total cases of crimes against women followed by West Bengal (9.6%) (32,513 cases) during 2016. Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh reported the highest incidence of Rape with 4,882 cases (12.5%) and 4,816 (12.4%) followed by Maharashtra 4,189 (10.7%) during 2016.
