'Safe Motherhood' Mission treats 3.49 expecting mothers in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, December 13: About 3. 49 lakh pregnant women have been medically examined and treated under the Prime Minister Safe Motherhood Mission in Chhattisgarh till date. Chhattisgarh Health Department had launched special mission to examine the women.

The State Government said in official release, the assistance of private medical practitioners had been taken in the project. The women are provided with a package of facilities during the pregnancy.

“The number of women patients has been increasing in State Government hospitals as they are also regularly examined by private medical doctors. Various tests -Sonography, blood, urine, Blood Pressure are done free of cost”, statement added.

Chhattisgarh Director of Health Services Ranu Sahu said that under the Central Government project pregnant women visit the State Government hospitals on 9th of every month to register and get medically examined.

Sahu further said “about 17 thousand pregnant women had been examined and treated on 9th December in the entire State. About 3 lakh 49 thousand had been treated after the launch of the mission. The project had been launched on 9th May 2016 in Chhattisgarh.”

The officials said that the mission had been very successful in the State. Doctors from about 200 private hospitals visit the State Government hospitals and treat patients free of cost in the entire State. Serious cases are referred to ultra-modern hospitals.
