Picturesque Darjeeling and neighbor hill areas ready to gear up its tourism industry again with a cheerful carnival

Darjeeling, December 15: The queen of hills Darjeeling went through a turmoil period gorkhaland agitation losing its charm as a great tourism hub. During the crisis tourists suffered along with local residents and witnessed violent outrage which has badly hit the main industry of the hill area, Darjeeling. Now, Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) is all set to get tourism back on track with a tourist festival, the "Teesta Rangit Tourism Fest 2017”. Moreover, the festival will run Darjeeling's two iconic heritages, the century-old Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and the sturdy Land Rovers.

The "Teesta Rangit Tourism Fest 2017" will be held in the Hills of Darjeeling and Kalimpong from December 27 to 31. From December 27 to 29 in Darjeeling; 28 and 29 in Kurseong; 29 and 30 in Kalimpong and 30 and 31 in Mirik will host the festival.

As per local reports, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee might come to inaugurate the festival. "We have invited the Chief Minister to visit the Hills during the festival. Now the ball is in her court," stated Binay Tamang, GTA Chairman. Along with tourism festival, there will be an industrial meet too to generate employment incorporating new industries.

Local administration is taking every possible initiative from road repairing to beautifying the areas. Even tourists will get considerable discounts during the festival and even the world famous Darjeeling tea packs at a lower cost. With a bonus to that, tourists will get to see two most important heritages of Darjeeling, Toy Trains, and Land Rovers. Tourists who have not yet taken the Land Rover ride will n be given one free ride for a certain distance.
