Arunachal Pradesh becomes ‘Open Defecation Free’ state under #SwachhBharatAbhiyan

Arunachal Pradesh, December 21: The year 2017 was envisioned to bring humungous changes and development in India. The country is heading towards progress and the outcome is fairly visible to all. The three year old Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan has created havoc by stepping each and every milestone coming its way. Another cap added to the improvement of India is that the State of Arunachal Pradesh has become a state of Open Defecation Free. The sanitation mission of the states in the country, nine states have set to become Open Defecation Free. As decided by the state government, Arunachal Pradesh had aimed in getting Defecation Free State by the year end.


 

Eradicating the problem of open defecation, states are taking proper measures to stop and bring the according change. The State of Arunachal Pradesh had decided to set this mission and make the state defecation free and in this mission after achieving its goal it will head towards Sikkim to help becoming the next Open Defecation Free zone in the country. Around 20 crores were allotted in the project of making the region sanitation and hygiene free. The state also allotted extra 20 crores to reconstruct new non-functional toilets in the state. Arunachal Pradesh is also the only state to allot 8000 from its treasure to the Indian Household Latrines (IHLL).

 

Apart from this, the state to promote more of the concept of cleanliness has planned to start a competition among the districts so as to promote more of cleanliness in the state. The concept of cleanliness and clean state was taken with immense zeal by the people of Arunachal Pradesh as this state is one of the tourism attracted state. The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has come up with cleanliness protocol for panchayats and gramin regions to maintain ODF status. 

The state has also urged to preserve water bodies for conserving water as the growing population, drinking water is becoming scarce. The state is envisioned in bringing the water conservation policy in the coming year.
