Thembin storm sweeps away almost 200 people with it in Philippines

Philippine, December 24: Natural disasters have no control. Since ages people have been hit by natural disasters all around the world. Be it the earthquake in Mexico where around 200 people were killed in September, the mudslide in Mocoa, Colombia were again 200 people were dead and now the Philippines have been hit by the tropical storm Thembin. 

 

The mayor of Zamboanga, Bong Edding has said that a rescue operation has been set up for the people who were swept away by the storm in the fishing village of Anungam. The flood waters came from the mountain and swept away the entire village around it. The officials have blamed the years of logging in the mountains near Anungan for the tragedy that unfolded on Friday.

“It’s really sad because Christmas is just a few days away, but these things happen beyond our control.” said Edding.

Earlier on Thursday an inter ferry sank off in northeastern Quezon province which flashed away the people and about 5 people were dead and 250 passengers and crewmember were rescued because of the big waves and fierce winds. Forwarding this the Thembin storm took pace and washed off the regions of Lanao Del Surand and Lanao Del Norte in Zamboanga. Before this the storm hit the regions leaving 50 people dead and 31 other missing due to landslides and damaged 1000 houses near Central Philippines.

Natural disasters cannot be stopped as such but it can be avoided for sure. All these natural disasters take place due to human negligence at times. Thus we must take this into consideration that we do not cause any harm to the environment as such.
