Yes! Yes! 27 lakh excited students have registered for Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme

New Delhi December 4: Yes you have heard correct that around 27 lakh students have applied for admission in Navodaya Vidyalayas. For the first time, this exam is online. Compared to last year, the number of students enrolling this year is about five lakh more. There are 623 schools spread across 601 districts in all states of the country.

 

In the series of tweets, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar hailed the Navodaya schools for providing education to the children of rural areas and said that the number of registered students is going to show a growing desire for education.

 

He appreciated Navodaya Vidyalayas, said at least 27 lakh interested participants have registered for Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance examination in class VI. The examination for admission in the sixth grade in the academic session 2018-19 will take place on 10 February 2018. In the last year, 22.5 lakh students had registered for entrance examination in Navodaya Vidyalaya. This shows a growing desire for level education in rural India.

Background:

Navodaya Vidyalayas are run by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of School Education and Literacy, Govt. of India. The Chairman of the Samiti is the Minister of Human Resource Development.

The aim of this scheme is to provide a good quality modern education including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of education, adventure activities and physical education to the talented children predominantly from the rural areas without regard to their family’s socio-economic condition.
