Wellington, January 14: In the ICC Under-19 World Cup cricket, India thrashed Australia by 100 runs in their opening group match in New Zealand. Indian blowers Shivam Mavi and KL Nagarkoti picked up three wickets each while Abhishek Sharma and AS Roy took one wicket each.

After opting to bat first India posted 328 for 7 against Australia. Openers Prithvi Shaw and Manjot Kalra laid the perfect platform for India and then Shubman Gill played a quick innings of 63 runs to help Men in Blue cross the 300-run mark.

Coached by veteran batsman Rahul Dravid, the Indian team is led by Prithvi Shaw. India are the three-time world champions, with the last victory coming in 2014. They are in Group-B alongside Australia, Zimbabwe and Papua New Guinea.
