Washington, January 24: The US-led coalition fighting Islamic State terrorists have killed around 150 terrorists in air strikes on Saturday in the Syrian middle Euphrates River Valley. Notably, the most dangerous terrorist organization Islamic State is on the brink of extinction in middle-east countries including Syria.

The US-led coalition in a statement said, “The precision strikes were a culmination of extensive intelligence preparation to confirm an ISIS headquarters and command and control center in an exclusively ISIS-occupied location in the contested middle Euphrates River Valley.”

The statement said that the strikes took place near As Shafah, Syria and killed between 145 and 150 ISIS terrorists. “US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which includes Kurdish YPG fighters, helped in target observation,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Major General James Jarrard, commander of special operations for the coalition said, “Our SDF partners are still making daily progress and sacrifices, and together we are still finding, targeting and killing ISIS terrorists intent on keeping their extremist hold on the region.”

However, the latest strikes come after the United States urged Turkey to show restraint in its campaign against Kurdish forces in northern Syria and to focus on fighting Islamic State militants.

The United States has led an international coalition conducting air strikes against Islamic State since 2014. The coalition has also said in the past that fewer than 1,000 Islamic State fighters remain in Iraq and Syria, but that the terrorist group still remains a threat.

Syria is affected by the civil war since many years due to which thousands of civilians lost their lives while millions were displaced. Over 80,000 foreigners from countries such as Tunisia, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Germany, France and the Caucasus have been recruited and traveled to Syria and Iraq between 2013 and 2016 to fight alongside ISIS.
