A step towards success, free access of WIFI in railway stations gets great response

New Delhi, January 3: The digital wave is currently sweeping India. With the country going cashless, the ‘Digital India’ initiative has taken the wave to a different level. Going digitalized in every section, the country is heading towards progress and development. The Digital India initiative is reaching every nook and corner and even the sleepiest part of the country. Several railway stations in big, busier locations are being provided free internet by Google which runs "the largest public Wi-Fi project in the world" in India.


 

Use of internet has increased and people have become more prone to use it completely in rural areas. Providing internet services to people on railway platforms has got great response. The Railways have extended their internet services to 53 rural areas through Wi-Fi spots. The number has increased to 257 stations as 7 stations were provided with the excellent internet Wi-Fi service.

Rail Wire is the medium through which the railway stations have been provided internet. It offers content and application driven service network. It has enabled local information for public and along with this it acts like a tool to render communication, infotainment, education and other much more services.

 

RailTel has aimed to take the Internet to smaller rail stops, making it available to neighboring villages via additional access points. India has a rich optical fiber network which is being leveraged to set up these centers. The direct drive for internet adoption is in rural and semi-rural areas from where the future of internet depends majorly. 

The motto being announced to provide high speed Wi-Fi connection to over 400 stations by 2019 in India, people accessing internet services on railway platform is paving path towards a bright side of the country. Railway stations are an acute access point for the government to influence and impact millions of lives with internet connectivity. It is seen that the official authorities have been taking all the efforts to create a country with advanced technology and equipment’s.

On the subject pertaining to delay of trains due to intense fog, Piyush Goyal stated that the officials have taken efforts to upgrade the infrastructure especially working on the signaling system infrastructure. The signaling system is designed to be completely computerized so that the device gives a proper judgment of the distance and signals for the trains. The government is taking measures to stop the issue of unwanted delay of trains due to fog and focuses majorly on the safety of the passengers. The statement comes in the backdrop of heavy fog for the third consecutive day in the Delhi (NCR) region, which has led to cancellation of 21 trains, while over 59 trains have been delayed.
