Busting the IS inspired terror module, NIA arrests 10 people raiding 16 places of New Delhi and UP

New Delhi, December 26: Suspecting involvement with a new Islamic State-inspired terror module, the National Investigation Agency raided 16 locations in New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Busting the IS terror module styled as ‘Harkat ul Harb e Islam’, the NIA detained 10 people involved in the search operation.

 

The search operation by the NIA was carried on to raid the places where it was suspected that the new IS terror module was planning to carry out blasts and attacks on top political leaders of the country. Out of the 10 people arrested, it has been noted that the five people detained were from the western Uttar Pradesh district of Amroha following a joint operation with the UP Anti-Terrorist Squad.

Five more were detained from north-east Delhi with the help of Delhi Police's Special Cell. The alleged terror group was under the surveillance of NIA from quite some time, attaining inputs of their suspicious activities.

During the raid, the NIA recovered cash worth Rs 7.5 lakh along with 100 mobile phones, 135 SIM cards, several laptops and memory cards. The NIA conducted their search in Delhi's Seelampur and UP's Amroha, Hapur, Meerut and Lucknow. Large quantities of explosive material, weapons and ammunition, including a country made rocket launcher have been recovered so far.
