Agartala, February 5: Bhartiya Janata Party aiming to uproot the corrupt government led by the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh carried out BJP campaign “Vijay Rath Yatra” for upcoming Assembly polls saying that the 25-year Left Front rule under the leadership of Manik Sarkar in the State has led to an increase in corruption, crime and unemployment.

Questioning CM of Tripura, Rajnath Singh said that “The State is dependent on the Centre for 90% of its funds and can add only 10%, while other States are progressing fast. I want to ask Manik Sarkar how many years you need to make advancement … it’s a shame.”

BJP Secretary for Tripura Biplab Deb announced promises for the upcoming polls, including jobs for local residents, implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations, free education for women and free smartphones for youth.

Further Minister Singh said that the people were suffering from underdevelopment, unemployment and security threats, but the CPI (M)-led Left Front government had been only giving them fake promises for years.

“The first Prime Minister to pay attention to the Northeast was Atal Bihari Vajpayee and it was he who set up the DONER Ministry for the first time. We brought the Tripuri Express and the Rajdhani Express to Tripura. We are the ones who began the Agartala-Dhaka-Kolkata bus service, cutting down your travel time to Kolkata,” Rajnath Singh added.

Also, Minister Rajnath Singh said that Tripura recorded a high number of crimes against women.

“The BJP government will hand over the investigation into the killing of journalists to the CBI within seven days of its installation in Tripura,” Minister Singh said. On law and order, he said a safe environment would be restored for all, even for CPI (M) supporters.

Also Union Cabinet Minister of Textiles and Information & Broadcasting, Smriti Irani campaigned urged people of Tripura to come forward and hold the hand of BJP to end corrupt government. Smriti Irani took to Twitter saying that “campaigned for @BJP4Tripura at Chandipur, Fatikroy and Pabiachhara Assembly Constituencies. Urged citizens to end years of lawlessness & misrule and vote for BJP to ensure a peaceful, prosperous Tripura.”
