Cauvery row: Makkal Needhi Maiam Chief Kamal Haasan urges Centre to follow SC directives

Chennai, March 1: Veteran actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam President Kamal Haasan urged the Narendra Modi led NDA government to respect the directives of the apex court on the issue of Cauvery water dispute. In an official release, the Party President has expressed displeasure over the reaction of Union Water resource minister Nitin Gadkari. In his recent media interaction, Gadkari said,“It is a very difficult task and it is not a very easy question” reports The Hindu.

Earlier, the Supreme court had directed the Central government to form a Cauvery Management Board in order to ensure the hassle-free rollout of Cauvery directives. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami would convene an all-party meeting to finalize the future line of action.

According to media reports, the all-party member along with representatives of various farmers’ associations are scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek support on the time-bound constitution of Cauvery Management Board.
