Raipur, March 14: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, talking about deadly Sukma Maoists attack, said that the attack was to retaliate a successful operation by COBRA battalion, which injured many Naxals in the region and recovered their weapons.
"They are doing this in fury as we are reaching close to their headquarters," he added. Nine CRPF jawan were killed and others injured in an IED blast during a search operation.
Raman Singh said that as rapid development of the backward region like Sukma is taking place with the laying of roads, electricity supply, drinking water provision, education, health and other basic amenities the Naxalites are facing existential crisis. The face of the region is undergoing radical changes.
He added that all the people of Chhattisgarh express their heartfelt sympathies to members of the bereaved families. Chief Minister prayed for the speedy recovery of injured jawans. He instructed the senior officers to provide best available medical treatment to the injured CRPF jawans.
