Khonmoh encounter: CRPF Jawans neutralize 2 terrorists in Kashmir

Srinagar, March 16: In a major crackdown by CRPF, two terrorists have been killed in an encounter which broke out in Khonmoh area on the outskirts of Srinagar.

The militants had tried to snatch the service rifle of constable Bilal Ahmad, who is the Personal Security Officer (PSOs) of BJP leader Anwar Khan, at Balhama in Srinagar outskirts. Khan's security guards returned the fire and in the brief shootout, one of his PSO Bilal Ahmad sustained bullet injuries in his leg. The injured security guard was later hospitalized.

Immediately after the shootout police, CRPF and army men laid siege around the area to track down the militants responsible for the attack. During the initial firing yesterday, a CRPF personnel sustained bullet injuries and was shifted to 92 Base Hospital for treatment, police said adding that the jawan's state is currently stable.

Police official said, "Two bodies of militants have been recovered so far, whose identities are being ascertained,". Along with the dead bodies incriminating materials which include weapons and ammunition have been recovered as well, he added.

In connection with this incident, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and an investigation has been initiated.
