Chandigarh March 23: At least 16,201 properties have been registered online in Punjab since the new state-of-the-art cloud-based National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) was rolled out.
The pilot project under National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) was rolled out in Punjab by the State Revenue Department last year has gained a ground very quickly. Notably, as many as 16,201 documents have been registered online since the launch of the pilot project in November 2017.
The pilot project is running successfully in eight districts namely SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Kapurthala, Faridkot, Pathankot, Patiala and Bathinda along with at tehsil level in Moga and sub-tehsil level in Adampur.
So far, there have been 8279 online registries in Mohali with no manual registration what so ever, 1078 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 793 in Rupnagar, 1529 in Kapurthala, 1175 in Faridkot, 2242 in Moga, 830 in Adampur coupled with 55 in Bathinda and 19 in Patiala.
Reviewing the progress of the project, Vini Mahajan, Financial Commissioner Revenue informed that the State Government wishes to provide a fully transparent, hassle-free property registration mechanism. In line with it, the online property registration facility has been created in the NGDRS portal.
She also noted that the switch-over from manual to online property registration has been smooth. The Consumer confidence has increased and the project is making a clear headway. Soon, it would be initiated in the remaining districts of the State.
BACKGROUND:
The Online Property Registration System is very simple and citizen-friendly. It provides an online interface to the citizens to enter data related to Registration and uploading of property documents 24X7, enables automatic calculation of Stamp Duty, Registration fees and other fees based on Collector Rates.
The citizens receive SMS alerts at Data Submission, Appointment and Completion of Registration, eliminating the scope for fraud. Further, the online appointment system gives flexibility to the citizens to choose their date of appointment for the registration thereby making the process hassle-free.
