New Delhi, March 8: Sharing his inspiration on the Women's Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Chhattisgarh's late social activist Kunwar Bai, who was made a mascot of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
It is noteworthy that Kunwar Bai was a resident of Dhamtari district, Chhattisgarh. Impressed with the Clean India Mission of PM Modi, she had given an important contribution in creating public awareness for hygiene.
On February 21, 2016 during his Chhattisgarh visit, PM Modi had touched feet of Kunwar Bai at the massive public gathering held in Kurrubhat (Dongargarh Tehsil).
PM Modi said "104-year-old Ma Kunwar Bai neither watches television, nor she is educated, but she came to know that Prime Minister of the country is calling upon people to build toilets at home. She used her little income she earned by selling goats to build toilet in her house and also inspired other villagers to build toilets. This vision of senior citizen such as Kunwar bai reflects the ongoing revolutionary changes in the country. I salute her."
